Employer Rate Notices Delayed to December 2021

#FFFFFF

Unemployment Insurance employer rate notices will be delayed until December due to the volume of work to determine correct pandemic claims charging. This will not impact the timing of your 2022 payments or your amount of time to protest your rate, if you so choose. If you need to know your rate information prior to the mailing for payroll withholding purposes, you may view it in MyUI Employer starting in mid-November.

FAQs

Yearly rates are determined by a formula that uses your premiums paid and the benefits charged over the life of your account to develop your “excess.” We then divide the excess by your average annual chargeable payroll which gives us the percent of excess. The percent of excess corresponds to the rate from the 0.000-Deficit column on the chart at the end of this FAQ.

CDLE typically sends out notices about the coming year’s UI employer rates in late November.

Rate notices will contain all of the same information as in previous years, they will simply be delayed. This delay is due to an effort to produce the most accurate rate for your business going into the new rate year, given the significant adjustments needed due to Covid charging. These adjustments took longer than anticipated and delayed the mailing of these forms.

  • Since claims paid due to the Covid-19 pandemic have been deemed ‘non chargeable’ for premium paying employers due to the Governor’s Executive Order, the Division has been working diligently to remove such charging from employer accounts. For reimbursing employers (typically nonprofits and government agencies) your charges were reduced by a percentage in accordance with federal relief efforts. Due to the overwhelming volume of work involved with sorting all these charges, this process has taken significantly longer than anticipated.

  • In an effort to prevent these charges from contributing to employer experience rates for 2022, the Division ran a program to automatically remove these charges from your accounts. We continue to review and monitor the charging on accounts and are taking necessary steps to make adjustments to any charging reversals that may have been missed through that automated process. The Division is taking the extra time necessary to ensure the overall accuracy of the process to negate and limit the impacts to employer accounts.

Notices should begin mailing in early to mid-December. UI Employer Services can help you with a duplicate copy of your rate notice starting in January of 2022.

There are no changes to the due date for your 1st quarter 2022 premium report which will remain April 30, 2022. Your rate notice will be mailed before the start of the new rate year.

  • Yes, rates will be viewable on MyUI Employer in mid-November. While this will not provide the comprehensive information available on your rate notice, it will be accurate for payroll withholding purposes going into the new year.
