Enhanced Account Security Measures Coming in Early August

In order to better safeguard Colorado unemployment claimants against scams and other attempts to compromise their accounts, we will be adding multi-factor authentication (MFA) to the MyUI+ login process.

Multi-factor authentication simply means the use of more than one method to verify that a user is who they claim to be. You may already be familiar with apps or websites that use MFA, such as a website sending you a text message with a code or a notification on your phone asking you to confirm. MFA will significantly enhance your MyUI+ account security and make it much harder for scammers to compromise accounts and steal benefits.

Beginning in early August, when you log into your MyUI+ account, you will be asked to set up multi-factor authentication. Thereafter, depending on which option you select, when you log in to your MyUI+ account you will receive a code either via text message, email, or an authenticator app on your phone which you’ll enter into MyUI+ to confirm that it’s you accessing your account.

As we approach the release of these new security measures, we’ll share additional information, including step-by-step instructions and screenshots. Please stay tuned to your email.

Text Message and Identity Verification Scams

We are continuing to closely monitor scammers who are targeting Colorado unemployment claimants using text messages and fake website links. This week, a text message scam has been circulating in which scammers, posing as CDLE, inform the recipient that “due to numerous number of fraud claims,” the recipient must click a link to verify their identity. This is a scam.

CDLE will never send you a text message with a link to verify your identity. If you receive a text message purporting to be from CDLE with a link, do not click the link.

For more information about scams, including examples, visit our UI Daily Dashboard at uidailydashboard.cdle.co and select “Scams” from the navigation menu.

Quarter Change
Federal rules require claimants receiving Pandemic Unemployment Assistance (PUA) benefits to reapply for regular state unemployment benefits each quarter. All claimants whose Pandemic Emergency Unemployment Assistance (PEUC) claims have expired or passed their Benefit Year End date must also reapply.

The most recent quarter change was on July 1, 2021. Affected claimants who have not yet done so will need to reapply by selecting the “Apply for Standard UI benefits” in the navigation menu.

Reminder: Please Include Claimant ID on All Mailed/Faxed Document

When submitting documentation to CDLE by mail or fax, you must return verification documents with the barcoded form(s) which were sent to you. Please include your name and Claimant ID number on any pages which are not a barcoded CDLE form. This will allow staff to more quickly locate your claim and reduce processing delays.

Additionally, when submitting documents by fax, there is no need to include a fax cover sheet — these are unnecessary and increase processing time. Please submit documentation via your MyUI+ account rather than faxing or mailing whenever possible in order to reduce processing delays.
