Accessibility
Accessibility at CDLE
The Colorado Department of Labor and Employment (CDLE) is committed to providing inclusive, equitable access to our facilities, programs, and services for all Coloradans. Our work is part of a broader effort by the State of Colorado to make all State services inclusive and accessible to all.
At CDLE we strive for full compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, the Colorado Anti-Discrimination Act (CADA), and all other federal and state disability laws to ensure we meet physical, digital, and programmatic accessibility standards. We are committed to providing a timely response to requests for reasonable accommodation or modification or reports of inaccessibility.
Reasonable Accommodation Requests
CDLE aims for universal accessibility and welcomes and encourages ongoing engagement with our community. Should you need a disability-related accommodation or modification to ensure your physical, programmatic, or communication needs are met, please fill out and submit the accommodation form through the following button.
CDLE Reasonable Accommodation Request Google Form
A few examples of accommodations or modifications include sign language interpretation, assistive listening devices, or alternative format documents.
If you need assistance with this process, please contact CDLE’s Title II ADA Coordinator at CDLE_ADA@state.co.us or by calling (303) 318-8000.
State Employee Accommodations
CDLE is committed to providing equal employment opportunities and reasonable accommodations in accordance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). The Department responds to employee ADA accommodation requests by using the interactive process described in SPP 1068-20 Reasonable Accommodations Under ADA and PDA (can be accessed by CDLE employees only).
An employee who wants an accommodation must:
- Request accommodation;
- Relate the request for accommodation to an essential function of the job that is difficult
to perform because of the disability; and - Be able to perform the essential functions of the job, either with or without accommodation.
To request an ADA accommodation or find out more about the interactive process, please contact CDLE HR Employee Relations, cdle_employee_relations@state.co.us.
Digital Accessibility
Our ongoing accessibility effort works toward aligning with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) version 2.1, levels A and AA criteria. WCAG guidelines help make web content accessible to all users regardless of ability. As CDLE continues improving digital communications across the department, not all content may be fully accessible at this time. CDLE welcomes feedback on how to improve accessibility for users with disabilities and requests for accommodations.
How We Test our Websites
CDLE uses both automated and manual accessibility testing practices to ensure our sites meet WCAG 2.1 guidelines. Examples of resources and processes we use to help identify and resolve accessibility issues include:
- Automated evaluation with Siteimprove
- Automated and on-demand evaluation with Web Accessibility Evaluation Tool (WAVE) by WebAIM
- WebAIM color contrast tool
- Human-led accessibility content reviews
- Human-led accessibility testing with screen readers
- Hired third-party accessibility vendors to help test and provide feedback
