On November 20, 2024, the Quarterly Census of Employment and Wages (QCEW) suspended publication of industry and substate data for Colorado due to data quality concerns. These data quality concerns were due to ongoing issues with the modernization of the state’s unemployment insurance (UI) system. Because the QCEW microdata are fundamentally a byproduct of state UI systems, QCEW data quality is sensitive to changes in these systems.

The quality concerns with Colorado data have been sufficiently addressed to resume QCEW publication. Therefore, on February 19, 2025, QCEW was able to resume publication of substate and industry employment and wage data for Colorado with the issuance of the County Employment and Wages news release for third quarter 2024.

In addition, Colorado’s Employment and Unemployment data (CES and LAUS) will be able to complete the 2024 benchmark and revision processes and will be able to continue to produce estimates for 2025.

Lastly, BLS published a notice for our Occupational Employment and Wage Statistics (OEWS) program, which produces employment and wage estimates for over 800 occupations. This data would have been released on April 2. The OEWS national office is evaluating the possibility of releasing Colorado estimates at a later date. Previous OEWS data can still be used as we work with the BLS on publishing OEWS.

Annual Census of Fatal Occupational Injuries (CFOI)

The annual Census of Fatal Occupational Injuries press release and related data for the 2023 calendar year will be available in December 2024.
