State Labor Dept Awaiting Federal Guidance on Unemployment Extensions, Directing Claimants to Additional Resources
(DENVER) -- On Dec. 27, 2020, a federal COVID-19 relief package that extends and provides additional federal unemployment benefits was signed into law. Today, the Colorado Department of Labor and Employment (CDLE) announced that it must await required federal guidance on the federal extensions and reprogram systems based on that guidance.
- The president has signed legislation that:
- Extends Pandemic Unemployment Assistance (PUA) by 11 weeks through March 13, 2021 (50 weeks total)
- Extends Pandemic Emergency Unemployment Compensation (PEUC) by 11 weeks through March 13, 2021 (24 weeks total)
- Provides an additional $300 weekly Federal Pandemic Unemployment Compensation (FPUC) benefit to eligible claimants for 11 weeks through March 13, 2021
- Extends Pandemic Unemployment Assistance (PUA) by 11 weeks through March 13, 2021 (50 weeks total)
Claimants do not need to contact CDLE at this time and the Department will be updating claimants via email and outbound calls as more information becomes available. There is no action that impacted claimants need to take at this time.
