The Colorado Department of Labor and Employment (CDLE) and its Division of Vocational Rehabilitation (DVR) have announced the winners of their annual Shining Stars of Disability Employment Awards, an event designed to honor individuals and employers who demonstrate exceptional efforts in the recruitment, hiring, retention, and advancement of people with disabilities.

(DENVER) -- Governor Jared Polis has declared November “Hire A Veteran First” Month. With Veterans Day on November 11, the entire month of November has long been a time to honor Colorado veterans and ensure they have opportunities to succeed in a post-military life.

(DENVER) -- Today the Colorado Department of Labor and Employment (CDLE) reported that 6,031 regular initial unemployment claims were filed the week ending October 24th. There were also 2,554 Pandemic Unemployment Assistance (PUA) claims filed for the same week. Since mid-March, a total of 587,365 regular unemployment initial claims have been filed and a grand total of 760,187 claims, including federal PUA benefits.* 

(DENVER) – Today the Colorado Department of Labor and Employment announced it would soon begin making one-time stimulus payments of $375 to Coloradans facing economic hardships related to the COVID-19 pandemic, as directed by Governor Jared Polis.

(DENVER) -- Today the Colorado Department of Labor and Employment (CDLE) reported that 5,735 regular initial unemployment claims were filed the week ending October 17th. There were also 2,973 Pandemic Unemployment Assistance (PUA) claims filed for the same week. Since mid-March, a total of 581,334 regular unemployment initial claims have been filed and a grand total of 751,602 claims, including federal PUA benefits.* 

Colorado Employment Situation – September 2020 13,400 Nonfarm Payroll Jobs Added in September; Unemployment Rate Falls to 6.4%. According to the survey of households, Colorado’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate decreased to 6.4 percent in September from 6.7 percent in August. During the same period, the national unemployment rate declined half of a percentage point to 7.9 percent.

There were also 2,532 Pandemic Unemployment Assistance (PUA) claims filed for the same week. Since mid-March, a total of 575,599 regular unemployment initial claims have been filed and a grand total of 742,894 claims, including federal PUA benefits.* 

In August, the Just Transition Advisory Committee (JTAC) submitted a draft plan to assist coal-transition workers and coal-transition communities in Colorado.

There were also 2,309 Pandemic Unemployment Assistance (PUA) claims filed for the same week. Since mid-March, a total of 569,357 regular unemployment initial claims have been filed and a grand total of 734,120 claims, including federal PUA benefits.*
