In recognition of the significant contributions of Colorado’s workers with disabilities, Governor Jared Polis signed a proclamation declaring October Disability Employment Awareness Month (DEAM), whose 2021 theme is “America’s Recovery: Powered by Inclusion.”

(DENVER) - Today the Colorado Department of Labor and Employment’s Division of Oil and Public Safety released the final report of findings on the fatality at the Haunted Mine Drop amusement ride at the Glenwood Caverns Adventure Park in Glenwood Springs, Colorado. On September 5th, 6-year old Wongel Estifanos fell to her death on the Haunted Mine Drop ride.

In celebration of Workforce Development Month, the Colorado Department of Labor and Employment (CDLE) has chosen the week of September 20th to highlight its efforts to prepare Coloradans for the future of work.

According to the survey of households, Colorado’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate fell two-tenths of a percentage point in August to 5.9 percent. This marks the first time since March 2020 that the state’s unemployment rate has been below six percent. The national unemployment rate also declined by two-tenths of a percentage point to 5.2 percent.

The signing follows the passing of 53 bills to support Colorado’s recovery as part of its Colorado Comeback.

First quarter 2021 Quarterly Census of Employment and Wages (QCEW) results indicate Colorado total nonfarm payroll jobs estimates will be revised up for this period with the release of benchmarked estimates in March 2022.

Coloradans entering registered apprenticeship programs are now eligible to receive up to $500 scholarship through an exciting partnership with the Colorado Department of Labor and Employment (CDLE) and the state’s workforce system.
