In celebration of National Disability Employment Awareness Month (NDEAM), the Colorado Department of Labor and Employment (CDLE) has chosen the week of October 11th to highlight how employers and workers can create workplaces inclusive to people with disabilities.

As Colorado’s mountain towns continue their economic recovery in the wake of the pandemic, businesses need workers now more than ever and those looking for work have never had so many options.

In order to support the development of a career-responsive education and training system, the Colorado Department of Labor and Employment (CDLE), in partnership with the Governor’s Office, the Colorado Department of Higher Education, the Colorado Department of Education, the Colorado Workforce Development Council, and business stakeholders, created the Office of Education and Training Innovation.

In recognition of the significant contributions of Colorado’s workers with disabilities, Governor Jared Polis signed a proclamation declaring October Disability Employment Awareness Month (DEAM), whose 2021 theme is “America’s Recovery: Powered by Inclusion.”

(DENVER) - Today the Colorado Department of Labor and Employment’s Division of Oil and Public Safety released the final report of findings on the fatality at the Haunted Mine Drop amusement ride at the Glenwood Caverns Adventure Park in Glenwood Springs, Colorado. On September 5th, 6-year old Wongel Estifanos fell to her death on the Haunted Mine Drop ride.

In celebration of Workforce Development Month, the Colorado Department of Labor and Employment (CDLE) has chosen the week of September 20th to highlight its efforts to prepare Coloradans for the future of work.

According to the survey of households, Colorado’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate fell two-tenths of a percentage point in August to 5.9 percent. This marks the first time since March 2020 that the state’s unemployment rate has been below six percent. The national unemployment rate also declined by two-tenths of a percentage point to 5.2 percent.

In recognition of the critical role workforce development services play in advancing Colorado’s economic recovery in the wake of the pandemic, Governor Jared Polis signed a proclamation declaring September Workforce Development Month. The signing follows the passing of 53 bills to support Colorado’s recovery as part of its Colorado Comeback.
