Keep Your Claim Moving

After filing your claim you should:

 Manage your claim in MyUI+

Once you have filed your claim you will be able to:

  • See your claim status
  • Request payments weekly
  • Manage your information
  • Respond to communications from CDLE

If you receive a notification that you have received a communication from CDLE, you can access it in MyUI+. To receive notifications, always log in to MyUI+ and navigate to the “View Correspondences” tab on the left side of the screen.

 Understand the Waiting Week

Under Colorado law, the first week for which you are eligible for unemployment benefits is a week for which you are not paid. This is called the waiting week. The waiting week does not mean that you must wait a week to apply for unemployment insurance benefits. You should apply for unemployment insurance benefits right after you have completed your last day of work.

Please note: You should complete your weekly certification EVERY WEEK, including for the waiting week. The waiting week will be noted on your payment history in MyUI+.

Register with your local Workforce Center through ConnectingColorado

After submitting your claim, you are required to register with ConnectingColorado within seven days of your claim filing date. If you do not register with ConnectingColorado, your claim could be delayed or moved to an inactive status. To register, go to ConnectingColorado and click “Register” on the main page. Follow the instructions to complete registration, indicating that your registration (or updated registration) is the result of a UI claim. If you want to register for work in person at your local workforce center, please visit our Find Your Workforce Center page.

Complete your weekly Work Search Activities Every Week

You are required to complete work search activities weekly while collecting UI benefits. Work search activities include:

  • Submitting applications for work which you are reasonably qualified
  • Uploading resumes to online job boards
  • Completing skills-assessments for positions for which you are reasonably qualified
  • Interviewing for new roles, and more

Make sure to record dates on which you completed work search activities so you can report them in your weekly payment request and certification. For more information on work-search activities, visit our Work Search Activities page or check out our one-pager.

 Report any income received

When you request payment and complete your weekly certification, you will be asked to report any income earned within the week for which you are requesting payment. You are able to collect up to 50% of your benefit amount without impacting your benefit amount. When you report earnings for the week, report your gross earnings—the total amount you earned prior to any deductions (taxes, child support, etc.). You will also need to report the location and number of hours worked.
