Press Release: July 2014 Colorado Employment Situation

Nonfarm payroll jobs increased 5,500 over the month from June to July to 2,452,200 jobs, according to the survey of business establishments. Private sector payroll jobs increased 6,000 and government decreased 500. Colorado has had 33 consecutive months of payroll job gains.

According to the survey of households, the unemployment rate decreased two tenths of a percentage point in July to 5.3 percent. The last time the Colorado unemployment rate was as low as 5.3 percent was October 2008.

Press Release: State honors six companies for outstanding workplace safety records

(DENVER)  June is National Safety Month and the Department of Labor and Employment is using this annual focus on safety to honor six Colorado companies for their exemplary track-record in workplace safety. The companies were honored by Governor John Hickenlooper in a reception at the Governor's Executive Residence on Tuesday, June 24.

Among the honorees are Ewing Trucking and Construction in Edwards and Rio Grande Mexican Restaurants, based in Fort Collins. Four companies with locations in the Denver Metro area were also recognized:
