The DOWC CoComp Initiative

CoComp Overview

The Division of Workers’ Compensation (DOWC) is upgrading its claims intake and management process. The DOWC is building a new web-based application called CoComp, in partnership with CapTech Consulting. CoComp aims to make managing workers' compensation claims in Colorado easier and clearer. It will offer a simple, transparent platform for all claims-related activities.

What Motivated the Upgrade?

The DOWC's current claims system is over 20 years old and does not allow external access. The system is being replaced to make it easier and faster for everyone to get information. Stakeholders will find files and answers quickly. Plus, the new system will keep your information safe as it expands. This upgrade will improve transparency. People will have a clearer view of their claims, and the self-service portal lets users check updates and manage their details whenever they want.

Project Timelines

Throughout 2025, the DOWC met with external stakeholders to understand what features and components could add value to the new claims system. Throughout 2026, the DOWC is continuing its development and preparation for CoComp. DOWC internal staff, insurers, and third-party administrators (TPAs) will begin using CoComp features starting in July 2026. A full external release to all external stakeholders is expected between late summer and early fall of 2027.

How to Get Involved

As the first rollout phase of the CoComp launch commences, a key priority for the DOWC will be to gather insights from external stakeholders to ensure the system effectively supports all users. Please watch for upcoming communications regarding opportunities to contribute your voice to the project. The DOWC appreciates stakeholder input and will continue to provide updates and opportunities for engagement.
