Level 1 Re-Accreditation

This course is available to currently Level 1 Accredited providers seeking re-accreditation. Level 1 Re-Accreditation is required every three years in order for providers to retain their Level 1 Accreditation. Level 1 Re-Accreditation is not required for Level 2 Accredited physicians interested only in maintaining their Level 2 Accreditation. The course updates providers on the Division of Workers’ Compensation's (DOWC) rules, medical treatment guidelines, and documentation standards.

Course Objectives

  • Apply the Colorado Medical Treatment Guidelines meaningfully in clinical practice.
  • Synthesize principles of chronology to appropriately proceed through a workers' compensation case.
  • Implement the Colorado DOWC rules and procedures into practice.
  • Evaluate medical and ethical issues pertaining to workers' compensation cases.
  • Understand the principles of legal and medical causality in a workers' compensation case and how the provider's assessment should be involved.

Continuing Education

This activity has been planned and implemented in accordance with the accreditation requirements and policies of the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) through the joint providership of the University of Colorado School of Medicine and the Colorado Division of Workers' Compensation. The University of Colorado School of Medicine is accredited by the ACCME to provide continuing medical education for physicians.

The University of Colorado School of Medicine designates this internet enduring material for a maximum of 14 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.
